Zu seiner Komposition Invocation, Dance and Meditation sagt der Komponist: «The title refers to ancient Jewish religious and musical traditions. The opening Invocation (a written-out accelerando) anticipates the music of the closing Meditation, but leads initially to a Dance of increasing energy ... After a loud and fast climactic passage the music returns to the E major chord from which it began. The viola fulfils the idea only hinted at previously, playing part of an old Rabbinic prayer from Eastern Europe ... The piece ends reflectively and calmly.»
